Thundersnow: A winter storm spectacle
Some of the strongest winter storms produce an extraordinary visual amid massive snowfall. There have been occurrences when what's known as "thundersnow" is reported by witnesses on the ground. According to the National Severe Storms Laboratory, while thunderstorms are less common in the winter, sometimes lightning can occur within snowstorms.
